The founder of Tatcha, Vicky Tsai, created the label after years of struggling with acute dermatitis – a result of a stressful, work-inflicted lifestyle. She was soon captivated by the Japanese philosophy of hinou dokon, which emphasises the symbiotic relationship between the mind and the skin. Inspired by this, all of the brand’s formulas work in harmony with the body’s natural balance. The Silk Cream, for example, is a gel-like formula that contains fibroin – the inner part of silk that helps retain moisture, providing a weightless and hydrated feel.
